Minecraft is a survival game that keeps giving. Since its original conception in 2011, the game has been receiving various updates that expand the game and everything in it. Last year we saw things like caves and cliffs added to Minecraft, joined by hordes of salamanders and goats.
This year, however, we’ll see something bigger come to Minecraft in time for summer; a brand new cherry blossom biome, the ability to dig around and learn about archeology, and more creatures will soon join players.
Archeology will be an activity that players can experiment with in desert biomes or along beaches. As you might have guessed, you’ll be digging the sand with a shovel and starting your own digging site. As time goes on, and Mojang says it will be adding more dig sites in the future, players should keep an eye out for one odd block: Suspicious Sand.
Minecraft’s upcoming sakura biome also looks awesome. Biomes adorned with pink trees will attract the cutest creatures; sheep, pigs and bees! Wood from this biome can also be broken down into a new resource, which undoubtedly produces some of the loveliest Sakura villages.
Last but not least, Minecraft’s 1.20 update will also introduce Sniffer creatures. This mob was so old that it went extinct…until now. Although, whether this mob prospers or simply becomes extinct again is in your hands. You’ll first need to find and hatch mob eggs, which can be found in the Suspicious Sand, a mysterious block we mentioned earlier.
This particular mob, once out in the world, is downright cute. Covered in turf, these sheep-like creatures have the makings of a botanist; they’ll help you find seeds throughout the exhibit, so your cherry blossom village can be a gardener’s paradise, too.
