in the block sandbox.
But not flat with oil paints on a canvas, as the master himself preferred… but complete with three dimensions in Minecraft, creating a mildly surreal looking city scene that you don’t see every day.

Starry Night in Minecraft
You see the spectacular construction on Reddit, where the user ChrisDaCow
offers a sightseeing flight around his work of art. The post was able to register over 50,000 high voters within one day:

Viewers are amazed by the painstakingly designed replica of the classic painting from 1889. Starry Night is considered one of the most important works by the Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh – and one of the most famous works of European art.
ChrisDaCow built a small town like the one on Van Gogh’s original in the Museum of Modern Art of New York. The typical swirls and, of course, the namesake stars are clearly recognizable.

Even a talented Minecraft builder doesn’t just shake Van Gogh’s opus magnum out of his sleeve. In an almost nine-minute YouTube video, ChrisDaCow provides a detailed insight into the complicated process of creating his 3D replica.
