Minecraft fans’ patience is paying off: After archeology announced as a new feature for the 2020 Caves & Cliffs update, it’s only now. With update 1.20, players in 2023 (and thus three years after the originally planned release) can finally go in search of lost artifacts.
What exactly is archeology in Minecraft all about, why the new feature has been so long in coming and what else has happened so far Update 1.20 is known, you will find out in the following message. If you haven’t dealt with Minecraft for a long time or haven’t dealt with it at all and are thinking about getting back into it, we can of course help with our guide:

Update 1.20 finally brings archeology in 2023
Why did this take so long? Developer Mojang 2020 actually had other plans for Caves & Cliffs. However, due to the ongoing corona pandemic and the resulting difficulties in everyday work, the studio had to rearrange itself a little.
This split Caves & Cliffs into two parts while the Archeology feature was postponed indefinitely. But now it will finally be with update 1.20 and three years after its original announcement played out.
How does the archeology feature work? With the new feature, the well-known Minecraft blocks can not only be smashed to dust, but also painted on. When mining, players should keep their eyes open for conspicuous sand blocks that need to be approached a little more gently with a new brush tool.
If you brush consistently and carefully enough, the sand blocks will reveal their secrets in the form of random objects or shards of pottery. If you collect four pieces of pottery with the right pattern, you can put them back together to form a complete vase. Archeology is of course not the only new feature of Update 1.20, but Mojang will only share further details in the foreseeable future.
When exactly will update 1.20 be released? Unfortunately, Mojang has not yet decided when update 1.20 will be released for Minecraft. In the current blog post is only from the generous time window 2023
the speech. As soon as the developers become more specific about the release, we will of course let you know.
