This past weekend was eventful for Minecraft fans. Because at the Minecraft Live Event, publisher Mojang released a lot of news for the block game. Even after 15 years, it’s far from over for the developers of Minecraft.

Among other things, there was news about the upcoming Minecraft film with Jack Black, which the GameStar community has rather mixed feelings about. But the announcement of a new biome, i.e. another landscape form for the survival crafting game, is likely to be much more important.

And that’s what it means: Because The pale gardenas the biome is officially called, definitely has horror potential. This is not only due to the lifeless atmosphere of the place, but also to a new type of enemy – The Creakingin Europe “The Creak”.

Horror-Ents im Gruselwald

The Pale Garden is a new forest biome, the an eerie and ghostly atmosphere should produce. There is a mysterious silence between the trees even during the day; the colors are desaturated, so that the forest appears almost black and white. Visibility is severely limited by the hanging moss.

However, it provides the creepy factor Creakinga new monster type, which is reminiscent of an Ent from Lord of the Rings. Thanks to their tree-like appearance, the Creakings are well camouflaged in the forest. When night falls, they appear and hunt you down. The scary thing: The creaking is hard to see because If you look in his direction, he doesn’t move, but stands still like a tree.

However, the characteristic creaking noises give you a chance of hearing the creaking prematurely. Direct attacks on the tree opponents are ineffective; sword blows bounce off their bark. To survive the Creaking encounter, you must find the Creaking Heart, which is hidden somewhere in the forest.

Of course, there are also new blocks to match the new biomelike pale oak and moss, with which you can decorate your world. When exactly The pale garden appears is still unclear at the moment, but a date around Halloween would be ideal for such a scary biome, don’t you think?!

Much love for the evil tree

The Minecraft community is already celebrating the new tree opponent. On Twitter Fans are writing how much they love the new Creaking design and are already busy posting fanart. users @Ydarrb even went so far as to create a cute copy of the Creaking to protect you from the nasty monster – you can see the result embedded above.

On Reddit Some users compare the movement mechanics of the new monster with the indie horror game SCP 173, which also had an enemy that didn’t move when looked at. The concept for such enemy types that are popular in the horror genre is called Weeping Angels.

User Jerelo689 points out that Minecraft is not just a simple sandbox: It’s a survival game, with hints of RPG. The new update is definite an important step in providing survival fans with more content.

However, there is also criticism of the new update: Because in the eyes of some fans, the new forest is nothing more than one repainted Version of the previous Dark Oak biome with denser trees and slightly changed colors. The Bleicher Garden update is not the big revolution for Minecraft.
