The Wings for Life World Run is coming up again and the gaming community is also getting involved in the long-running Minecraft for a good cause!
The Wings for Life World Run, which has been running since 2014, will take place again on May 5, 2024. Once a year, at the same time in many cities around the world and via an app, numerous running enthusiasts run under the motto “Running for those who can’t”. More than 1.2 million people have already taken part for a good cause, with all entry fees from the run going to the Wings for Life Foundation, which invests in spinal cord research and aims to make paraplegia one day curable.
The gaming community in Minecraft is now joining this good cause. The streamer Rafael “Veni” Eisler is putting together an event in the long-running blockbuster Minecraft that simulates the largest charity run in the world and wants to draw attention to it. Ideally, this will encourage many gamers to take part in the real Wings for Life World Run on May 5th.
As part of the simulation of the run in Minecraft, you go into a specially built Minecraft world one week before the real world run on April 28th at 1:00 p.m., in which you then escape from a moving game boundary. The goal – like the real Wings for Life World Run – is to cover the longest distance until you are caught by the ever-accelerating world border.
Anyone can take part in the Minecraft event and compete against the best in the scene. The event will be live on Venis Twitch-Kanal transmitted. To take part in the real Wings for Life World Run you got your own Gaming Community DACH Team founded, which Veyla leads as team captain. Anyone can join the team and run, walk or roll in a wheelchair individually using the app and their fitness level. 100 percent of the entry fees and donations from the Wings for Life World Run go towards spinal cord research.
