Modern Warfare 2 Officially launched on all platforms worldwide. To celebrate the launch, PlayStation has announced a bunch of PS4 and PS5-exclusive rewards. Of course, we already know about the Oni Operator pre-order bonus, but it’s not over yet.
There are five bonuses available on PlayStation and nowhere else. Some of these are permanent, others are recurring and rarely one-time.
Starting with XP, party XP rewards will return. If you party on PlayStation, you’ll earn 25% more weapon XP. It’s a bonus we’ve seen in recent years, but at least when playing with non-PlayStation players.
Every month, PlayStation hosts a 24-hour Double XP event. This is another payback bonus. PlaySt ation Plus members also get a free bundle every season. The bundle comes with unique operator skins, weapon blueprints, charms and other cosmetic items.
As CharlieIntel discovered, things get more interesting as you get into the list.
If you buy any of the battle pass bundles (which usually get the pass and 20 tiers to skip), you’ll get 5 additional skip tiers. It’s an ongoing reward, which means you’ll get five additional tiers every time you buy the same bundle for future seasons.
Call of Duty website confirms Sony PlayStation advantage #MWII:

But the most important thing is the extra load. If you’re playing on PlayStation, once you unlock the ability to create add-ons, you’ll have two permanently available additional add-on slots at your disposal. That might not seem like much, but the ability to have that extra loadout is something Call of Duty players have wanted for years.
It used to be something you bought from the in-game store, but Activision doesn’t do that anymore. With Warzone and other load-heavy modes out there, the default numbers aren’t enough. Going back to that feature just because it’s exclusive to PlayStation is a bit of a brain teaser.
In practice, this suggests that players will be able to purchase additional load slots, as this has been shown to be possible.
Of course, this is nothing new. Sony has had an exclusive partnership with Activision for almost its entire generation on Call of Duty, and it’s likely to continue with the current generation.
Previously, rewards ranged from 30-day early access to map packs (back in those days), to a full year of exclusive modes (like Survival in Modern Warfare 2019). However, with the demise of the map pack, the rewards have dwindled, mostly consisting of exclusive skins, bundles, and other cosmetic items.
However, given PlayStation boss Jim Ryan’s opposition to Microsoft’s proposal to acquire Activision, it’s ironic that it could affect the experience of PlayStation players.
