The 2019 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is now the most successful CoD of all time, as publisher Activision announced in the financial report for the first quarter of 2020. Accordingly, CoD: MW was able to sell more copies and also entertain more players than any other part of the brand.
Success also thanks to Warzone: In the first quarter of 2020, CoD: Modern Warfare also saw the strongest sales outside of a release quarter. Activision explains this with the March release of Warzone and the increased need for players due to Corona-related home stays.
Warzone is also celebrating massive success: The Free2Play Battle Royale, which is based on Modern Warfare, has reached 60 million players within two months of its release, according to Activision.
Successes are evident on the stock exchange
For Activision, the latest success stories are also paying off in the share price. After Activision Blizzard's paper collapsed significantly with Diablo Immortal's unpopular Blizzcon announcement in November 2018, the price subsequently recovered only slowly.
However, the shares have now returned to the pre-Blizzcon level. Things have been going uphill particularly quickly since the release of Call of Duty: Warzone on the stock exchange.
