No breathing space: Patch 1.20 has just launched a major update for CoD: Modern Warfare, when developer Infinity Ward already provides an outlook on further new content. A roadmap update for Season 3 promises three new game modes:
- Gunfight: Knives Only
- Demolition
- Gun Game Reloaded
When does the whole thing appear? Tuesday is traditionally the playlist update day, so we expect the new game modes from May 5, 2020.

CoD players can look forward to demolition
For lovers of objective game modes, demolition should be of particular interest. The mode is a variant of Search & Destroy and was already represented in Modern Warfare 2 and 3, in the Black Ops series and Infinite Warfare.
How Demolition Works: As in S&D, teams are divided into attackers (who want to plant a bomb) and defenders (who want to prevent this). The biggest difference is the respawn mechanics: In Demolition, players always start again, in S&D they are eliminated until the end of the round.
What is so special about it? Demolition enables much more tactical moves and strategies than, for example, domination or TDM. The smoke grenades or reconnaissance drones that are often neglected in the game can give attackers a decisive advantage. On the other hand, the defensive often relies on snipers, mines or improvised machine gun positions to hold the bomb sites.
The author says: Demolition has always been a hidden highlight of the CoD series for me. Is that because of my preference for Rainbow Six: Siege? Because although I am not averse to the Run & Gun gameplay of Domination, Hardpoint or Team Deathmatch, there is a very special appeal for me in the more tactical variants. In Demolition, not only a quick trigger finger is rewarded, but also sophisticated flank attacks and the clever use of field upgrades and gadgets. So if you like to play the strategic modes like headquarters, you are guaranteed to be happy with Demolition!
