Monster Hunter Wilds is entering a massive open beta and is available first for PlayStation Plus subscribers

Monster Hunter Wild fans rejoice; we’ll be launching a massive beta test on all platforms soon. Today, Capcom announced during a special livestream that it will launch cross-platform play testing on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam next week, and support cross-platform play between all platforms.

But PS Plus subscribers on the PlayStation 5 can play the game earlier than everyone else, presumably thanks to Capcom’s marketing deal with PlayStation (after all, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen something like this happen). If you subscribe to PS Plus you will be able to access the beta version October 29th to October 31st.

Public beta on other platforms will be available from November 1st to November 4th. PlayStation players can participate in this test, as well as the open beta test specifically for PlayStation 5. Of course, keep in mind that the game won’t be on the Nintendo Switch. For a more specific breakdown of dates and times in your area, check out the image below.

“Monster Hunter Wilderness” open beta time:

  • PlayStation Plus subscribers: October 28, 8:00 pm PT to October 30, 7:59 pm PT
  • Xbox Series X/S and Steam: October 31st at 8:00pm PT to November 3rd at 6:59pm PT.

The Open Beta (no matter where or when you play) will include Character Creation (making the hunter you’ll use to play the game), Story Trials (playing the game’s intro and fighting tutorial battles), and Doshaguma Hunting (fighting a group of creatures and Try to destroy Alpha Doshaguma). All content will be available in multiplayer, but if for some reason there’s no one to play with, NPC hunters will join the fray. Thanks to Monster Hunter: Rise of Daylight for testing these guys out.

If you want another reason to play the open beta, you’ll also get a cute little feline pendant that you can attach to your weapon or mount in the final game. This is a great way to show that you were there from the beginning.

Additionally, any character creation data you fiddle with during the open beta will carry over to the full game, meaning you can go completely crazy in the demo instead of wasting your time – which is good to know.

Capcom’s latest big game will be released globally on February 28, 2025.
