Another rumor about death stranding 2 In development has surfaced, and sources say it is being produced under the codename “Ocean.”
This is according to ResetEra user Dusk Golema well-known leaker who makes money with horror-related scoops (via Insider Gaming).
Dusk Golem’s comments came in a thread on ResetEra where forum members were discussing a recent report that Death Stranding 2 was coming to Stadia, which Dusk Golem debunked.
“Death Stranding 2 is in development (to let some insiders know I won’t be crap on this later, its internal codename is Ocean),” they said.
“Kojima has a long term agreement with Sony in this regard and is currently analysing whether Sony and Kojima Productions should sign a contract after the DS2, but there has never been a problem before that as Sony has a multi-game contract and Kojima Productions have it. But Death Stranding 2 itself has always been planned with Sony.
“I won’t say anything practical about the game itself, either now or in the future, so even if people later find out I’m 100% truthful about codenames and contracts, don’t ask. But anything about the DS2 other than Sony The rumours are bullshit, the deal with Xbox was never DS2, this rumour is false, Sony and Kojima Productions’ multi-game contract expires after DS2, and is currently post-DS2, both parties decide whether to continue their relationship or end it Their relationship, it’s a fact.”
This isn’t the first time a relatively reliable source has indicated that Death Stranding 2 is in development. Probably one of the best sources, Norman Reedus, also said earlier this year. Considering he starred in the first game and was close to Hideo Kojima, he’d know it made sense.
Development ‘just started’ when Reedus fumbled [on the] The second,” Kojima posted an amusing tweet indicating he’s ready to bring the Governor’s bat to Reedus. Obviously, it’s all fun.
But this isn’t the first time Reedus has thrown beans. Back in August 2021, he reportedly said that a sequel to the second Death Stranding was “in negotiations.” So, it seems like the sequel will be announced at some point — we so, it seems that at some point, the sequel will be announced. We just don’t know when.
Death Stranding was released for PS4 in 2019 and sold over 5 million copies. The PC version is released in 2020 and further improved, while the Director’s Cut is coming to PS5 in 2021. It was released on PC earlier this spring and hits PC Game Pass on August 23rd.
The Director’s Cut includes new content and updated game mechanics, new weapons and gear, and a shooting range. There are also new missions, battles and new areas and new delivery methods, such as a cargo catapult, and a companion robot, as well as jump ramps you can build to cross gaps. It even has a Fragile Track racing mode, a tweaked UI, and friend play features.
