For fans of the beat’em-up franchise Mortal Kombat it’s time to pull out the calendar again: The start date for the film remake has finally been set.
Mortal Kombat has not only enjoyed cult status in the games sector for decades, there are also implementations in the film sector that are very popular among fans. As is well known, the franchise is to return to the TV screen or the big screen – and there is now finally a specific date for the film remake.
After turbulent months and then the consequences of the corona pandemic, the future of the strip was more or less uncertain for a long time. Originally the piece was supposed to start in January 2021, but Warner Bros. postponed it for an indefinite period. This uncertainty is over now.

Via Twitter it has now been made public that the new film will be shown from April 16, 2021. As Warner Bros. previously confirmed, the release will not only take place in cinemas (if they are open again nationwide by then), but also via the in-house streaming service HBO Max. There should be a fresh trailer in the coming year.
Producer Todd Garner was able to personally deliver the happy news, garnished with a new artwork. You can see the corresponding posting above.
