800 dollars for the PS5 Pro – is that okay?
Since the PS5 Pro was officially unveiled by Sony, there has been one question in particular: Is this console really worth a whopping 800 dollars? Watch our first reaction video on the price above!
So it’s obvious that we wanted to know your opinion too. In our survey “Are you buying the PS5 Pro or not?” over 8,000 of you cast your vote. And the result is more than clear.
Majority with a clear “no”
31 percent of those we surveyed do not buy a PlayStation at all, another third are happy with their existing console and 23 percent are completely against it due to the high price of the PS5 Pro.
In contrast, only 13 percent have already decided to buy – either immediately at launch or later with a discount. This means that over 6,500 of the 8,000 survey participants have given a clear no – which corresponds to an overwhelming Majority of 81 percent.
Tactical release time
So if the improved PlayStation 5 am 7. November 2024 officially goes on sale, a large part of GameStar users will probably watch from the sidelines how the new console is received.
The release date falls strategically during the Christmas season, when demand for consumer electronics is traditionally at its highest.
Nevertheless, there is a possibility that the price of 800 dollars for a device without disc drive could deter many potential buyers, as our statistics show.
The gaming question
Of course, the question also arises as to how many games will actually benefit from the PS5 Pro upgrades right from the start.
With Game Boost, Sony has already announced a feature that will improve the stability, quality and performance of numerous PS4 and PS5 titles right from the release. Over 8,500 games that have already been released will benefit from this.
Sony also promises an enhanced patch for around 50 high-profile PS5 games that will unlock the quality mode at 60 fps instead of the usual 30 fps. For example, Horizon Forbidden West will run in 4K and 60 fps thanks to the enhanced update.
