Since midday on March 30, 2020, Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord has finally been available on Steam after years of waiting – and the fans literally run into the booth with the developers!
After only so many players wanted to buy the medieval role-playing games that the Steam shop collapsed briefly among the numerous inquiries, Bannerlord is now breaking records.

Sensational steam start for Bannerlord
After the steam shop has recovered from the first rush of buyers, it became immediately clear that the open world RPG will break records: A good six hours after the release, over 165,000 players are currently on the move in the Calradia gaming world – and the trend is rising!
Despite the comparatively high early access price of 49.99 euros, Mount & Blade 2 is the most successful release of the year so far:
-
Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem was played by just under 128,000 players simultaneously on the release weekend – when they weren't struggling with server problems.
-
Doom Eternal had a release of over 105,000 players.
-
Half-Life: Alyx managed – although it can only be played with a VR headset – to around 43,000 players
-
Ori and the Will of the Wisps made it to 35,000 simultaneous players – a great success for a comparatively small title.
But not only the competition leaves Bannerlord behind: Its predecessor Mount & Blade: Warband was five times more than the sequel – Warband had the highest number of simultaneous players 6 years ago with around 33,000 players.
