The block system in Mount & Blade 2 will soon be easier. The block system in Mount & Blade 2 will soon be easier.

Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord currently tops the list of Steam top sellers. In the most played titles, it is currently in fourth place, with almost 180,000 players logged in at the same time. The early access of the medieval sandbox is a huge success and inspires many fans. However, there are also points of criticism: One of them concerns developer TaleWorlds, because the heavily missed car blocking soon returns.

Automatic blocking already existed in the predecessor. The game chose the right direction when parrying, in Mount & Blade 2 you have to use the arrow keys to choose where you want your counter to be. This makes the combat system, which is already demanding, quite frustrating, especially in mass battles. We already complained about blocking in our early access test for Plus subscribers:

An official announcement on auto blocking is coming soonAt least one customer service representative in the official TaleWorlds forum promised that. The support team answered the following in a discussion about the missing feature:

"" Hi, we've disabled the feature, but many are asking for it. So we're planning to bring it back. We'll announce it on our forums. Kind regards, TaleWorlds Support Team. ""

Does this make Mount & Blade 2 too easy?

Not all players are happy with the announcement, as can be seen from the numerous forum comments. Some fear that the deliberately complex combat system will suffer and that immersion could be lost. Still others are happy because they find the combat system better than in the predecessor, but they don't get warm with the block even after many hours of play.

Both sides have numerous supporters who strongly advocate their opinion. The best compromise would be if TaleWorlds brought auto-blocking as an option that could be deactivated.

By the way, there are already a few exciting mods for the sandbox role-playing game – even though an official modding tool does not yet exist. Whether you want to make your HUD clearer or hide your helmets, you are sure to find the right thing in our Mount & Blade 2 mod collection.
