New PvE mode coming soon Multiplayer battle It gives you a whole new way to play, allowing you to travel across the multiverse and engage in a series of encounters with fighting mutants.
Each Rift features a series of battles or challenges around a specific theme, organized around seasonal tweaks such as Joker’s Mayhem.
When you first enter Rift mode, you’ll learn the basic systems and mechanics in a special Tutorial Rift before moving into Seasonal Rift. They feature unique stages, skins, characters, and mutants. They also get harder as you progress.
Encounters in Rift Mode spawn a variety of different effects, called mutants, leading to some silly but challenging combat encounters. Some of the mutators you experience will be influenced by the Rift theme, while other mutators will be tuned for maximum chaos. Examples include the infinite jump mutator and the chicken glove mutator. There are also over a dozen mini-games in Rifts Season 1, which can be quick-match games or volleyball games.
Boss battles are also introduced in Rift Mode, each ending with a Rift-themed boss battle designed to challenge your abilities in creative and fun ways.
While you can play Rift Mode entirely solo, you can also play co-op online. In co-op mode, you earn rewards as a team and can share rewards.
Progress in Rift Mode earns you tons of rewards, and new challenges are updated regularly. As you advance through the nodes, you’ll complete various optional mission objectives that reward you with stars, with each objective giving you more and more rewards. Additionally, season-long events will reward you for defeating bosses of increasing difficulty.
As you navigate the Rift, you can always go back and replay any battles you particularly enjoyed, or try to earn more stars and rewards at that node.
This mode utilizes gems (essentially power-ups) to provide bonuses that make harder nodes less challenging. There are three types of gems: offensive, defensive, and utility, and each gem has an associated attunement related to the current season. When you get multiple versions of the same gem, you can upgrade them instead of hoarding them in your inventory. Various gems of different rarities can be discovered and used to increase power. You can earn gems by playing organically and completing the battle pass.
Rift Mode will be updated frequently, so each season should look different from the last.
More mutants and mini-games will be introduced in the new season, so what you see on May 28 is just the beginning.
