It has been nearly a year since the game’s public beta began. multiplayer All online functions have been shut down until normal launch next year.
Back in March, MultiVersus developer Player announced that the game would be temporarily shutting down, with a full release expected sometime in 2024. Now that time has come, the game shut down its servers in the early hours of the morning. When you launch the game now, you’ll see this message: “Thank you for your support throughout the Open Beta! The feedback and inspiration has been amazing…we plan to come back with new content, features, modes, and more, and better than ever. “When the game returns next year, it will ensure that all your progress and content will carry over. ”
It’s a rather confusing decision for player-first, since you can buy battle passes, skins, and the like with real money. The game is currently only promised to return next year, but whether that will be enough to entice players back is another question.
I wouldn’t say all is bad, though, and if you do enjoy the game, you’ll still be able to play the game in limited offline modes, like local matches and the game’s training room, so you can at least get some practice. , all characters and all cosmetics are available to try out, as shared on the FAQ page. The downside, though, is that all of that will be locked again when the race returns next year, so there are indeed swings and roundabouts.
It should also be noted that the refund policy has not changed, i.e. you cannot get any refunds just because the public beta is closed.
After its strong launch, MultiVersus definitely fell out of favor, with player numbers plummeting in the ensuing mounts. Let’s see if things get better again in 2024.
