News culture “My experience was traumatic” She filed a complaint against Netflix after participating in this reality TV
At Netflix, not everything is rosy behind the wealth of content. Recently, a contestant on a reality TV show filed a complaint against the famous platform…she was allegedly “traumatized.”
When turned on Love is blind Contestants must find love without seeing it, a contestant has no intention of turning a blind eye. As reported The guardRenee Poche, featured in Season 5 of the Netflix reality TV show, is at the center of a complaint by two American lawyers… The target? Terminate the contract of the young woman who claims she has suffered great emotional distress – and denounces various violations of California state labor law. While participating in the program (in 2022), Renee Poche was allegedly robbed of her cell phone, passport and driver’s license and locked in a hotel room. Additionally, the production would have forced her to spend time with one Carter Wall, a suitor she describes as “violent,” “addicted to alcohol and amphetamines.” Her (brief) story was also cut from the final version of season five.
A “traumatic” experience
“My experience on Love is Blind was traumatic,” Renee Poche told Variety. “I felt like a prisoner and had no support when I let Delirium (the show’s production company) know that I didn’t feel safe. I tried to deal with these emotions over time and finally felt the need to share what happened. I thought it was only right to tell others the truth about what everyone in the cast went through.” A few days ago it was Delirium who asked the candidate directly for $4 million. She is said to have violated her confidentiality agreement by publicly criticizing the show.
As The Guardian explains, Renee Poche’s trial could pave the way for numerous claims to reality TV contracts. “These documents are actually illegal,” said Bryan Freedman, one of the two lawyers responsible for the young woman’s defense. “They serve an illegal purpose and are legally invalid. We have hundreds of customers ready to make their claims.” This isn’t the first time Netflix reality TV contestants have expressed their concerns. On the sidelines of Love is Blind, Squid Game Le Défi is also said to have mistreated its participants.
