Iconic developer studio Naughty Dog is working on a new game in a “popular franchise”. Could there be a new Uncharted for the PS5?
Is Naughty Dog returning to the hit action-adventure series Uncharted? The signs of this may now be increasing, because at least it has now been confirmed that the cult developer is working on a new project in a “popular franchise”. That’s according to a new job posting from Sony’s new in-house studio in San Diego, where they were looking for a game design intern for a AAA title.
What does San Diego have to do with it? The announcement specifically states that this PlayStation studio is currently working as a co-developer on “an exciting new project starring Naughty Dog in a popular franchise”. In short: Naughty Dog got help on board for this.
Whether this is Uncharted is not certain. However, after The Last of Us: Part I recently received a complete remake, many players believe that the mentioned franchise could be the comeback of Uncharted.
The Sony studio in San Diego was formed in partnership with PSS Visual Arts, a studio with experience in motion capture and cinematics. This had already made invaluable contributions to The Last of Us.
Earlier in 2022, a job posting via Naughty Dog’s co-president Neil Druckmann suggested the studio had at least three projects in the works. One of them was the mentioned The Last of Us: Part I Remake, another the promised multiplayer experience based around The Last of Us. The big unknown remains the legendary third project – a new Uncharted? We will keep you up to date!
