2K revealed NBA 2K25release date and cover selections, one of which features NBA and WNBA players actually sharing the same artwork for the first time in series history. You’ll want to circle September 6 on your calendar, because that’s the date you can play.
As outlined in the blog post, you can choose to purchase the Standard, All-Star, or Hall of Fame editions, and a GameStop-exclusive physical WNBA edition is also available for players in the United States and Canada.

Each edition features a different cover, featuring one or two of this year’s three cover stars — Boston Celtics small forward Jayson Tatum, Las Vegas Aces power forward A’ja Wilson and former Toronto Raptors dunk legend Vince Carter.
The All-Star Edition is the most interesting of these covers, as it will see NBA star Tatum, who just won a championship ring, competing with two-time WNBA MVP and champion Wilson, marking the first time in the history of the series that players from both the men’s and women’s teams will compete together. While 2K has made admirable efforts over the past few years to integrate the WNBA into its games, giving you the opportunity to use its teams in the game and compete for the WNBA championship throughout the season, WNBA players have usually only appeared on the cover of the WNBA Edition, and Wilson is also on the cover this year.
“Being featured on the cover of NBA 2K25 is a huge moment for me and a testament to the growing fan base of the WNBA,” Wilson said in the post. “It’s inspiring to see more and more WNBA athletes being scanned into NBA 2K25 to best capture the style and confidence of the league, and I can’t wait for fans to experience it in-game.”
Another cool development this year is that PC gamers can get the same next-gen versions of the game that are available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, rather than the last-gen versions available on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Yes, poor PC users, this means that “PC users with compatible specs will now benefit from the augmented reality of ProPLAYTM technology, as well as the ability to compete in modes such as MyNBA, The W, and The City”.
In terms of price, unless you go with Switch, the Standard Edition is £69.99/$69.99, with the same price for the North American WNBA physical edition, and the All-Star Edition is £89.99/$99.99, which includes a ton of MyTeam and MyCareer in-game content you might expect. Then there’s the Hall of Fame Edition, which costs £129.99/$149.99 and includes some extra content compared to the All-Star Edition – including a 12-month NBA League Pass subscription – and is only available until September 8th.
