NBA 2K25 is already a big thing, and it’s about to get even bigger as its second season of content launches alongside a new paid DLC game mode that has you flying around in futuristic planes trying to outdo you teammates. The multi-level courtroom is filled with power-ups.
Yes, it’s called the Gravity Sphere, and it can be accessed through Cities – 2K25’s already busy My Player hub, which this year, as I mentioned in my review, contains a half-Roman battle The arena, half of the building with a portrait of Michael Jordan’s face. NBA 2K25 Season 2 and Gravity Ball will both launch this Friday (October 18). 2K describes the latter as “a fast-paced online multiplayer game – accessible through NBA 2K25 Cities as optional paid DLC – where players can team up to play a dynamic, futuristic experience with Unconventional rules and unique competitive excitement.”
According to Greg Thomas, President of Visual Concepts, the game/mode “started as a passion project for the talented Lego 2K Drive team at VC South.” “I like to think of Gravity Ball as a cross between American Gladiators and futuristic basketball and paintball,” he continued, “just pure crazy chaos.”
If you’re on PC, PS5 or Xbox Series X/S (sorry, last-gen console friends) and choose to pay £6.99 for Gravity Ball, you’ll be playing 3v3 and 5v5 matches in the Arena of the Future, targeting It’s about driving off your opponents by hitting targets on the wall with the help of four different abilities. I’d need to see it in action before I can properly judge its purpose, but based on promotional footage I think Rocket League looks like it could be an inspiration, and as with anything of this nature, there may be It has a bit of a Fortnite vibe in a way.
Anyway, as for the actual content of the second season, it will be presented to you in the usual way. After Jason Tatum kicked things off, Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray took center stage this time around, so there are some thematic elements surrounding him, like he New Balance sneakers. 2K has also partnered with record label EMPIRE to add some fresh music to the 2K25 soundtrack from artists such as 310babii, Lil Yee & Lil Pete, Babyface Ray and BabyTron.
On the MyTeam side, we’ll be getting pack themes like “A roster of high-flying players, Hall of Fame wings with scoring skills, and sharpshooting guards from the modern NBA,” as well as a new batch of rare cards that can be ranked and leveled Get seasonal rewards. Oh, and there are also weird mascot and mummy costumes to earn when you level up as a MyPlayer or WNBA player and through the Pro Pass.
