Rebel Moon was supposed to be the next big sci-fi hope for Netflix, but so far both parts have hardly been convincing. Now, of course, the question arises as to whether Director’s Cut delivers what we missed and criticized in our film review.
Director Zack Snyder already has that a running time of six hours, as well as more sex and violence provided in promising. The director’s cut of Rebel Moon is scheduled to follow sometime in summer 2024, specifically in August.
In the interview, Sofia Boutella tells us what she thinks is the most exciting aspect of the director’s cut of Rebel Moon. According to the actress of Kora, we are almost expecting a completely different film
which is even supposed to put the standard versions of Child of Fire and The Scar Maker in a new light.
Not only
ein Director’s Cut?
What exactly does that mean? Zack Snyder provides additional context for this. He explains to us in a direct conversation that Netflix gave him complete freedom with the director’s cut of Rebel Moon. That’s why he even goes so far as to describe this expanded version of his two-part sci-fi series as a story that takes place in a parallel world:
[…] Die [normale Fassung] by Rebel Moon have been carefully tailored to make it accessible to the masses. When I think about what I’m most proud of about the Director’s Cut, it’s the fact that it’s the complete opposite. [Netflix] left me completely alone. The Director’s Cut not only shows scenes that were not seen before, but also shows well-known scenes in a completely new light.
We even went so far as to use alternate recordings […]which also applies to certain dialogues […] That’s why the Director’s Cut corresponds to a version from a parallel universe and not just an extended version. The characters also change in a slightly different way – which makes it all the more interesting in my opinion.
