Netflix: HE is the highest paid actor in Hollywood – and his films aren’t even shown in cinemas!

There’s no question: Hollywood stars earn good money as actors. The actors’ strike in 2023 came primarily from small and supporting actors, who do not have nearly as much say in salary negotiations as multiple Oscar winners.

The strike played on the numbers that Forbes now presented for 2023, but only a minor role. Although the top stars also went on strike, the films that couldn’t be shot for several months were in most cases only intended for 2024 anyway.

So money in Hollywood continued to flow in abundance last year, especially in the direction of the following 10 actors, whom Forbes has now crowned the top earners of 2023!

A good year for the Sandman

In first place is Adam Sandler, whose three films were released in 2023 – all of them on Netflix. The comedy star has had an exclusive contract with the streaming service since 2014, “There is no such thing as too much Sandler!” said Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos.

Through “Murder Mystery 2”, “Leo” and “You’re Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah” and his comedy tour through the USA, Sandler was able to earn a total of 97 million US dollars in 2023, after deductions for managers, agents and Lawyers were left with $73 million here.

In the case of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the high ranking can of course be explained primarily by the success of “Barbie”. After all, actors benefit financially primarily from films that were shown in cinemas and thus continue to generate profits for years through re-releases or Blu-Ray sales.

Of the “Oppenheimer” cast, only Matt Damon made it onto the list. Damon was willing to star in the film for $4 million, a relatively small fee, but in return he agreed to share in the box office revenue – a smart move.

Jennifer Aniston appeared in “The Morning Show” Season 3 and “Murder Mystery 2” in 2023, but she admits that she still earns so much money from “Friends” reruns that she doesn’t actually have to work anymore . Her numerous advertising deals are also profitable and require little effort for Aniston.

While Leonardo DiCaprio only appeared in “Killers of the Flower Moon” in 2023 and received another bonus in addition to his fee when the film moved to Apple TV +, Jason Statham managed it with “Fast & Furious 10”, “Meg 2” , “The Expendables 4” and “Operation Fortune” on the big screen four times. DiCaprio and Statham share 7th place.

Ben Affleck made it onto the list with his film “Air”, in which he directed and played one of the leading roles, while Denzel Washington celebrated a box office success with “The Equalizer 3” and ended up in 10th place.
