Netflix is still THE size in the streaming area, but could now expand its own business model into the gaming area. At least that is what a new report suggests – and at least once it was not denied officially.
Will Netflix soon be the next big entertainment giant in the gaming sector? At least that’s what a new report from The Information Near. There it says that Netflix has already come into contact with various sizes and executives within the game industry in order to underline and advance its own ambitions.
It also says that the streaming journey is interested in releasing games within a subscription model – as is already done with films and series. Netflix’s gaming model could then be offered in a similar form, such as Apple Arcade on iOS platforms.
The English-speaking colleagues from Polygon In view of the story, we continued to dig into Netflix and also got a statement from a spokesman. First things first: Although gaming plans have not been confirmed by name, they have been anything but denied.
One is “excited” it says on the part of the speaker to “do even more in terms of interactive entertainment” in the future. And further: “Our members appreciate the value of the diversity and quality of our content. That is why we have continuously expanded our offerings – from series to documentaries, films, original formats in regional languages to reality TV.”
Additionally, players would enjoy being more directly involved in the action. As examples, the spokesman cites shows like “Bandersnatch” or even games based on “Stranger Things” and more.
“That is why we are excited to do even more in the area of interactive entertainment in the future,” it concludes. The chances are therefore very good that Netflix will actually intensify its efforts in the gaming area and possibly act as a competitor to the Xbox Game Pass. We’ll keep you up to date!
