Netflix Stops Production of The Witcher During Corona Virus Outbreak

With the outbreak of the global coronavirus, production of The Witcher series on Netflix has been suspended for at least two weeks.

According to Deadline, The Witcher was filmed at Arborfield Studios in England and is the latest Netflix series designed to limit the spread of COVID-19. Last week, the streaming service made an overarching decision calling for the closure of the production of all shows shot in Canada and the United States. Anything shot outside North America will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

The entertainment publication Variety also posted an email to the production team behind the Witcher series, confirming this breakthrough.

"The coronavirus poses challenging questions for everyone involved in Netflix production. We are grateful for all the work you did to ensure the safety of cast members and crew during the pandemic,"

The health of actors and crew is our primary concern. We are dealing with an unprecedented global pandemic that is beyond our control, and in many cases they are subject to government regulations or restrictions (including travel restrictions in many countries).

"So we have decided to take immediate effect, to suspend production for two weeks during this difficult period, and we will support production partners engaged in the Netflix UK scripting series to do the same. This will give everyone time to make informed decisions about how to move forward . "

The eighth episode of Season 2 was originally planned to begin production early next year and will be released sometime in 2021. There is no word yet on how its showtime will be affected by the production interruption.
