We start this selection with big beetle, the latest film from French genius Jean-Pierre Jeunet. The director is behind some of France’s most celebrated films, including Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children and of course Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain. He also sampled the American experience by signing the realization of the fourth opus of the Alien saga Alien, the resurrection. FYI, the director’s last film dates back to 2013, so this Netflix release acts as a minor event. BigBug aims to take us to the near future where androids are at the service of mankind. But when the latter rebel, the androids in a family will do whatever it takes to protect them from their own kind. The film is described as a reflection on artificial intelligence, a comedy starring robots. We can’t wait to see the final result on February 11th.

bladder

bladder is one of the most fascinating projects of 2022 to see the light of day on Netflix. The film is produced by Wit Studio, to whom we owe the first three seasons of the no less famous anime Attack on Titan. If this information is already a guarantee of quality, we also keep many names related to the project. The chara design was entrusted to Takeshi Obata, who is none other than Death Note’s designer. The screenplay is by Gen Urobuchi, who wrote the screenplay for Psycho-Pass. The music was composed by Hiroyuki Sawano, who worked on Attack on Titan. Beautiful people come together for a film with an equally compelling synopsis. In a Tokyo permeated by bubbles that have completely redefined the principle of gravity, young people indulge in the joys of parkour. When Hibiki is near death, he is saved in extremis by Uta, a young girl with strange powers. The two young people then embark on an adventure that will change their lives. The release is scheduled for April 28th.

Escape from Spider Head

Escape from Spider Head is a project that particularly piques our curiosity. In the production we find Joseph Kosinski, a filmmaker whose career is closely linked to video games. He started with Tron Legacy and clipped his first experience doing commercials for Halo and Gears of War. He’s also behind the famous Gears trailer served up by Mad World’s sweet music. We will also soon find him behind the camera of the new movie Top Gun. In the meantime, we have the rights to Escape from Spiderhead, a film of anticipation in which prisoners relive their past with drug-altered emotions. In the casting and production we find Chris Hemworth who should be accompanied in particular by Miles Teller. No specific release date has been announced at this time.

chainsaw massacre

2022 marks the return of Leatherface, the insane killer of chainsaw massacre. Almost 50 years after the first film, this sequel/reboot will be released on Netflix. We say sequel/reboot because this new film officially ignores all Texas Chainsaw Massacre films released after Tobe Hooper’s work in 1974. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre of 2022 is still taking place in the outlying parts of Texas, where Leatherface is now in his sixties, patiently waiting to pull out his favorite tool to slaughter the naïve boy. The streaming platform is bringing this work to life, and to be honest, we’re very excited to see the direction the production has taken. The appointment will be given on February 18th.

The gray man

We end with The gray man. Behind the camera we find the now indispensable Russo brothers, who for a time officiated for Marvel in the realization of Avengers Infinity War and Endgame. The Gray Man marks the second collaboration between Netflix and the Russo brothers after Cherry, but also their reunion with Chris Evans, who is set to co-star alongside Ryan Gosling. Court Gentry is a former CIA agent turned hitman who works under the identity of “The Gray Man”. Everything changes when he, in turn, is being hunted by several international organizations. A charged action film with espionage and betrayal. The recipe for good entertainment, also served up by talented actors. The exact release date remains a mystery for now.
