After a lot of criticism, Netflix now not only measures whether the series or the film was played for 2 minutes for its own charts. From now on, the US streamer will be looking at the hours of series or films watched in both the daily Netflix Top 10 and the weekly charts.

Netflix launched its own website on November 16, 2021 with weekly Netflix chart lists out. There you will find the global film and series charts, but also the weekly charts from over 90 countries. The global charts are sorted by: Film (English), TV (English), Film (English), Film (Non-English).

Every Tuesday the weekly lists are updated and include the total hours watched from Monday to Sunday of the previous week. What is new is that individual series seasons can appear in the series list.

Weekly numbers are rounded to the nearest 10,000 to account for unstable internet connections. It also shows how many weeks the series or film has been in the Netflix Top 10. Netflix also hired an outside company to verify the numbers. The report on this will be published in 2022.

The Netflix charts tell you which are the most popular series and which are the best films from the US streaming service.

Until now, you could only find out about the success of a Netflix production if Netflix itself divulged viewership numbers or if the company Nielsen Ratings, which evaluates the access figures for Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, published rankings with the most successful productions.
