In the documentary, Half-Life 2 engineer David Speyre reveals that the team has already been working on it Episode 3 when Valve decided to put the project on hold. For what ? The studio has decided to focus its efforts on the development of left 4 Dead. Once this pivot point is reached, the idea of starting work again arises Episode 3 never really took shape.
