The Swedish publisher and developer Paradox has been holding its own public convention every year since 2017: The PDXCON. The event is running again this year. For three days there will be digital shows where fans of their games will be brought up to date and can learn more about the background.
But the pivotal point of the event is large announcement stream. This is where – the name suggests – all the important announcements are broadcast. The stream ran today, May 21, from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
There weren’t only trailers to be seen here. The developers presented projects and add-ons for current strategy games and also unveiled a completely new title. We have in this article all announcements summarized for you.
The biggest announcements of PDXCON
Victoria 3

Victoria 3 – The announcement trailer shows little, but says a lot
That was announced: It really happens! For years it has been a running gag among Paradox fans that players hope for Victoria 3 and that it is never really announced. But now the fun is over. Or rather, it really starts. Paradox has finally announced their new project and this is precisely this successor.
But what is it about? Victoria 3 is a global strategy game that is set in the age of imperialism and covers the years from 1836 to 1936. Unlike perhaps Crusader Kings or Europa Universalis, it is less about war and the expansion of borders, but more about economics, politics and the pursuit of global fame.
But two paragraphs hardly do justice to this huge and extremely complex strategy game. That’s why you should read the preview from my dear colleague Graf at this point. It’s almost bigger than the game. But it is much easier to understand!

When will that be out? A release date was not given. We don’t expect the launch until mid-2022 at the earliest.
Crusader Kings 3: Royal Court
1:34
Crusader Kings 3 – Royal Court is the new DLC and the trailer promises even more intrigue
That was announced: With Royal Court, Crusader Kings 3 gets its first major expansion. So far, only a so-called Flavor Pack has appeared with Northern Lords. Royal Court should now bring some more extensive changes with it.
At the center of the DLC is the new throne room, where we as king or emperor can receive subjects, make decisions or display souvenirs. The throne room will not become a statistics screen, but rather an animated environment where characters really stand in line. In addition, the culture system is being revised with the free update.
Individual cultures are now structured in a much more granular manner and whether or not cultural members understand each other is determined by much more detailed circumstances. You can find out more about Royal Court in our preview. Thanks to our interview, you will also find information there that went unanswered in the stream.

When will that be out? There is no release date for Royal Court either. The release should definitely take place in 2021.
Empire of Sin: Make It Count
1:02
Empire of Sin: First expansion introduces new boss and his gang
That was announced: Make It Count is the first expansion pack for the gangster strategy game Empire of Sin. The DLC brings a new playable gangster boss named Meyer “the Accountant” Lansky. A historical figure who worked as a brilliant accountant for the mob in the mid-20th century. Consequently, his greatest strength in the game is to ensure a healthy economy – but he is also excellent at handling a revolver.
In addition, the expansion brings with it a new class of gangsters. The fixer can mediate well between other gangsters and acts as a finance shark. In combat he can hold his own at a great distance and control entire areas. All of this is complemented by new missions, skills and gangsters.
A free update has also been announced, with which the city can be divided into districts and which also makes mods possible.
When will that be out? The DLC and Update are both expected to appear in the course of 2021.
Prison Architect: Second Chances
0:53
Prison Architect: In the new expansion Second Chances you can rehabilitate inmates
That was announced: The third paid expansion for Prison Architect has been announced and is entirely about rehabilitating inmates. So you can put in place programs to prepare prisoners for life outside of jail. You learn to socialize with other people or to resolve conflicts peacefully. Those who behave well can be fired earlier.
However, recidivists cost our prison a pound of money. But those who are successfully integrated bring a small bonus. Some ex-inmates even return to help other inmates rehabilitate.
When will this come out? Second Chances will be released on June 16 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Switch players will have to wait until June 29th.
