Tired of Baldur’s Gate 3’s cool characters not being able to tell you exactly what they think of the interesting dilemmas you inevitably encounter during your adventure? Well, a new mod can help.
While it’s nice to be able to have a long conversation with God’s favorite princess or a wizard with enough goofy energy to seduce a lot of book-loving Taff, having a line or two to say one or two words in reaction to something is just too much. Better what happens when you’re out and about. Even if they’re just calling you stupid for walking right into an obvious trap or licking a spider.

With LightningLarryL’s new mod (dubbed “More Reactive Companions”), these neat little interactions should become more common.
Whether it’s Astarion telling you about his experiences in the location just mentioned, Karak telling you about her distaste for Lance Bald, or Shadowheart complaining about possibly having to do something dangerous when you least expect it You’ll hear some extra nonsense when you least expect it. For an example, check out the examples in this showcase video.
If you’re wondering where this rare nonsense comes from, LightningLarryL is here to explain. “BG3 has a ton of quips and comments about your companions that are only available when you’re playing as the original character,” they revealed. “This mod repurposes all of those lines, Use it as a companion chat [when you’re playing as a custom character]”.
“All lines played [at] Right timing and appropriate to the situation. This really makes your party feel more energetic! “
If you’re traveling without a party, or carrying anything that reacts to any simulations you encounter, a version of this mod ensures that your custom character will still say whatever they would normally say. So the often more interesting companion conversations don’t necessarily leave you completely silent, although that’s an option.
Plus, if you’re playing a character with dastardly dark impulses, there’s a modded version just for you, which ensures you’ll still get plenty of wonderfully insane and evil dialogue on a regular basis.
