We have heard absolutely nothing from Hideo Kojima, Kojima Productions and Death Stranding during the last video game events, Gamescom 2024 and the recent State of Play. A subsequent post confirmed its presence during Tokyo Game Show 2024. And it certainly took its time! An hour and a half of conference in which some new developments were shown.
The presentation of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach was full of talk and images about the development, highlighting the motion capture part. Said like this it may sound boring, but we were also able to see some cinematic clips from the video game. There are a total of five that are around two or three minutes long.
We see familiar faces like Sam Porter Bridges (Norman Reedus) and Fragile (Lea Seydoux) walking around the new ship that promises to be our main mobile base. The charismatic Heartman (Nicolas Winding Refn) returns. Of course, we see new faces like Tarman (George Miller, director of Mad Max), Tomorrow (Elle Fanning) and Rainy (Shioli Kutsuna), who is pregnant. In fact, the conversation between the two is about the abnormality of being pregnant.
Although we have not yet announced the release date, of course we already have it set. The plans are underway. Although production is progressing towards that goal, there are several factors that could affect the launch schedule… We said 2025, so it’s coming next year. The release date is going to be announced sometime next year.
- Clip 1: Tarman as George Miller.
- Clip 2: Tomorrow, Rainy and pregnancy
- Clip 3: Heartman and his experiments with the beach
- Clip 4: Modo photo and Death Stranding 2
- Clip 5: musical performance
The mysterious tone changes to a more humorous one when Sam takes out his new tool: a camera that will act as a photo motorcycle in Death Stranding 2. It seems somewhat similar to the mechanics of Red Dead Redemption 2. Finally, we see a musical performance with the theme “Horizon Dreamer” and involving the real artist Daichi Miura and the character Dollman (Fatih Akin), the ventriloquist who will accompany Sam of the same like Mimir Kratos in God of War.
