In the June 23 menu of the day we talk about the release date of the next generation of consoles announced by Microsoft. The daily is online!
The battle to acquire Activision Blizzard has been raging for months. Despite the European Commission’s confirmation of the purchase, the CMA (UK Competition and Markets Authority) and the FTC (the American competition police) continue to fight. Microsoft is currently in negotiations with the FTC. Several documents appeared and below Microsoft announces that the release date of its next Xbox and PS6 will be set for 2028. Nothing official on the date, but a 7 or 8 year lifespan for a console remains plausible. An important date if we are referring to Microsoft’s promise to keep the Call of Duty franchise on PlayStation consoles, since the agreement would therefore still be in force at the time of the next generation of consoles. Microsoft’s defense is clear: Xbox’s strategy is no longer to sell consoles, but they want to capitalize on the sale of accessories, games and especially services like the Game Pass. They say it themselves: Xbox has lost the console war and its rivals Nintendo and PlayStation are well positioned to continue dominating the market. The Daily is over.
