Markus Schwerdtel: It has been circling over our hard drives, the Microsoft Flight Simulator, since August 2020. It is still extremely fascinating to fly sightseeing laps over the realistic landscapes. Again and again I discover beautiful corners of the world – although it is now especially worthwhile to explore your home airspace.
Because with World Update 6, Europey, Austria and Switzerland will get from 25.8. even fancier cities, more detailed airports and even prettier sights.
A pleasant side effect of the Xbox version that has now been released (which we will of course also cover in the magazine): The start of the Flight Simulator has never been easier than now. So it is still worthwhile to get on board – and our large special edition will help you!
Pre-order and secure the special issue now
By the way: We even had to reprint the last special issue on Flight Simulator – for the first time ever in GameStar history. That was how overwhelming the demand was. We hope that we have put enough magazines to print for this edition right from the start.
For beginners, professionals and everyone who wants to become one
In the new special issue, not only beginners get their money’s worth, professionals should also check in. Because again we have teamed up with absolute experts for the guides, who not only have many, many, many, many simulated flight hours under the wings, but also fly themselves and write for the renowned trade journal FS Magazin.
The professionals explain the instruments in the cockpit to you, how to navigate correctly and, above all, how to adapt the flight aids in the game to your skills. They also tell you how to find your dream machine and how to master it. And how to behave correctly in online air traffic with other human pilots. Shortly: You can learn to fly properly with our special edition on the Flight Simulator!
Our professionals tell you everything about:
- Assistance systems and their functions
- Flight planning and navigation
- wind and weather
- Visual flight, instrument flight, autopilot
- Radio traffic
- and more

Equipment and addons
Anyone who delves deeper into the Flight Simulator will sooner or later want to invest in sensible input devices. At least I’m already thinking about how to rearrange my desk so that the stick, levers and pedals (of course not on, but under the table) have space. We’ll tell you which peripherals you should put next to the PC for the right pilot feeling.
And while we’re currently investing: In our large add-on section, we explain which planes and scenarios that are subject to a fee are really worthwhile – and which free add-ons should not be missing in any Flightsim installation.
The unanimous opinion of the readers about our special issue from 2020: The map with the keyboard layout was great! It makes sense that we put them back into the new magazine in an updated form. The console pilots among you are looking forward to the updated gamepad functions. The double poster is also brand new, bringing you an aviation atmosphere into the playroom with chic motifs.
