The Geforce RTX 2060 without super add-on is currently Nvidia's only graphics card from the RTX series, which only has 6.0 GB VRAM. New product entries at the EEC (Eurasinan Economic Commission) now indicate that a version of the RTX 2060 with 8.0 GB VRAM could soon appear (via PCGamesN).
There are three entries from the hardware manufacturer Asus, which on RTX-2060 models of the ROG-Strix series indicate the “8G” in the name of this amount of VRAM.
- ROG-STRIX-RTX2060-8G-EVO-GAMING
- ROG-STRIX-RTX2060-A8G-EVO-GAMING
- ROG-STRIX-RTX2060-O8G-EVO-GAMING
If you look at the names of current graphics cards from Asus, the preceding "A" on the second card indicates an "Advanced" model, the preceding "O" on the third card indicates an "OC" model.
In our test of the RTX 2060, which was published in early 2019, we came to the conclusion that its 6.0 GB VRAM is currently mostly still sufficient, but better or more future-proof would be more video memory.
Little leeway in terms of price
The RTX 2060 with 6.0 GB VRAM is currently available from around 310 euros, while the RTX 2060 Super with 8.0 GB VRAM is just under 400 euros. If there is a new variant of the RTX 2060 with 8.0 GB VRAM, it could be sorted in the range of 350 euros.
In principle, it would also be conceivable that Nvidia replaces the RTX 2060 with 6.0 GB by the new model with more VRAM at similar or only slightly higher prices. On the other hand, it is rather unlikely that other technical data will change in addition to the amount of video memory.
However, it remains to be seen whether an 8GB variant of the RTX 2060 will appear at all – there has been no official announcement so far.
