Bungie is far from finished with its successful free-to-play MMO FPS Destiny 2. So it has shared the future ahead, and there’s a nice surprise on the horizon.
Since June 4th, Guardians have been busy with the latest DLC for Destiny 2: Final Form. As the name suggests, Bungie’s adventure in this universe is far from over. In a video titled “The Journey to Come,” the studio revealed the roadmap for its free MMO-FPS, with a nice teaser.
Destiny 2 still wants to explore other boundaries
In addition to the massive Final Form DLC, Destiny 2 still has many stories to tell in its vast universe. This comes in the form of episodes that flesh out the story of Bungie’s game. The first chapter of this new story, Echoes, is already available and will be available for the next four months. Players can discover what’s in this content and earn gear and armor sets as they progress through it. The second episode, titled “Revenant,” will focus on the Fallen and will therefore come after Echoes. This trilogy finally ends with Heresy, which focuses on the fearsome Hive. In each episode, Guardians are encouraged to discover these new stories with themed gear as well as some gameplay variations.
Quite an interesting program in itself, but it was the final announcement of this presentation that really caught the attention of Destiny 2 fans. For the eleventh year of its existence, Bungie teased that “the journey will continue,” which is currently only known by the codename “Frontiers.” There has been a lot of speculation about what that means. In the past, the studio has never teased DLC by its codename. Yet a 2025 release doesn’t seem to coincide with a possible Destiny 3. For lack of anything better, we’ll have to wait until next year to find out what this new episode in the world of Bungie’s free-to-play MMO FPS has in store for us.
