Intel is mainly known for processors, which sometimes contain rather slow graphics units. With the new Xe architecture, however, the chip giant wants to be broadly positioned on the GPU market in future and AMD and Nvidia will compete strongly.
A tweet from the graphics division of Intel, which shows a large graphics chip, has now raised new hopes for possible high-end graphics cards for players:
Silicon bring-up with many tens of billions of transistors needs surgical teamwork of various engineering functions. With only remote access to labs spread worldwide, this was deemed impossible, until now. #NoTransistorLeftBehind #JoinTheOdyssey pic.twitter.com/z3ub5eOV9t

In the course of this, the website Tweaktown is titled that Intel could even beat an RTX 3080 Ti, which has not yet been officially announced, with the new graphics cards.
Intel dampens expectations
However, Raja Koduri, who has been working for Intel since November 2017, clearly refuses such hopes. Previously, he was responsible for AMD's graphics cards.
Focus on mainstream segment: Koduri picks up the Tweaktown article in a separate tweet and explains that the graphics chips are models designed for data centers.
In principle, such chips can also allow conclusions to be drawn about possible smaller models, such as for the player area. In another tweet, Kodura explains where Intel's focus is currently in this segment:
Our current focus is very much around unsolved user problems in PC Graphics – particularly in integrated graphics and segments immediately above that reach 100’s of millions of gamers every year

Translated, the statement means that Intel's focus in the gaming area is on the graphics units integrated in CPUs as well as in the sector directly above it, i.e. on dedicated entry-level graphics cards with low prices.
Hundreds of millions of players reachable
Even the obvious one Rationale for mainstream focus provides Koduri: With such GPUs hundreds of millions of players can be reached every day. This certainly does not apply to expensive high-end models such as a possible RTX 3080 Ti.

Koduri's statements don't mean that Intel has no ambitions to deliver high-end graphics cards to gamers. The RTX 3000 generation, which is expected at the end of this year, will certainly not be ready yet.
