Bethesda Game Studios Releases New Developer Diary starry sky It featured game director Todd Howard and the rest of the development team discussing how they were approaching the studio’s upcoming RPG.
In the video, Howard is joined by Design Director Emil Pagliarulo, Lead Mission Designer Will Shen and Lead Artist Istvan Pely. The team discusses how companions can be improved, and how a companion bot called VASCO will join you, making off-the-cuff comments about what you’re looking at or what just happened.
The team also discusses the various factions in the game and how to join any faction you like. You can even join multiple factions, including the bad guys.
Interacting with these factions and other NPCs will take a page out of The Elder Scrolls: Forgotten dialogue system. According to Shen, the team has no intention of cloning the old Oblivion system on purpose, but as Howard puts it, this particular dialogue system is “definitely one of the most successful systems the studio has in a game.”
Character creation is also mentioned in the video, which Howard says will be a more detailed feature than previous games. You will be able to choose your character traits and background.
If you’re interested in Starfield, you’ll want to show the developer video a look.
Starfield will be available exclusively on Xbox Series X/S and PC on November 11, and you’ll be able to play with Xbox Game Pass on day one.
