At the 2024 Academy Awards, Cillian Murphy recently won the Oscar for Best Actor for his performance as “Father of the Atomic Bomb”. Many viewers know Murphy not only from “Oppenheimer”, but also from the hit series “Peaky Blinders”.
As Batman’s antagonist Scarecrow, Murphy also caused fear and terror in director Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” series. But fellow actor Pierce Brosnan can even imagine Murphy in a completely different role, namely as secret agent James Bond!
At the Oscar Wilde Awards, Brosnan made a statement short conversation with the BBC on the “ Bond” rumors and said: “Cillian would do a great job as James Bond in His Majesty’s Secret Service.” Brosnan has already played the agent in four films from 1995 to 2002 and should be particularly familiar with the right choice.
There is currently no official successor for Daniel Craig, who announced his exit in 2021 after “James Bond 007: No Time to Die”. But some candidates for the legendary cult series include Cillian Murphy, Aaron Taylor-Johnson (“Kraven the Hunter”) and Henry Cavill (“Argylle”).
Cillian Murphy was able to secure the approval of Pierce Brosnan! Whether he actually makes the shortlist remains to be seen. Until then, you can watch Oscar winner Murphy in his role as J. Robert Oppenheimer in the historical film “Oppenheimer”.
