PlayStation Studios and Kojima Productions are teaming up to develop an action spy game with a new IP.
An action spy game from Hideo Kojima? What clearly sounds like Metal Gear Solid, and not just to fans, is actually an ongoing project by a new brand in collaboration with Sony.
But just because it doesn’t say Metal Gear on it doesn’t mean it doesn’t have Metal Gear in it – at least according to some fans of the franchise. They see him as a spiritual successor.
What do we know about the new game?
At the State of Play on January 31, 2024, game developer Hideo Kojima not only showed Death Stranding 2: On the Beach for the first time, but also announced an upcoming action spy game. It carries the Working title Project Physintshould crossing the boundaries between video games and films
and is created in collaboration with PlayStation Studios.

The signs are there and hope is great
Why only a spiritual successor? Metal Gear Solid is a popular and long-running series of action spy games originally created by Hideo Kojima. However, the rights to the IP belong to Konami, which unacceptably parted ways with the legendary game developer in 2015.
Since then, only a new spin-off, Metal Gear Survive, has been released in 2018, but it has little to do with the main series. The desire for a new part or at least a comparable game is therefore great.
