Fans are still waiting in vain for a real strategy game in the Elder Scrolls universe. But just in time for the eleventh birthday of the role-playing milestone Skyrim, some hobby developers now have an impressive mod for Crusader Kings 3 released, which lets you conquer Skyrim, Cyrodiil and other regions of Tamriel.
In this article, we explain why there is more to the mega project than just a simple re-skin of the base game.
The same modding team that released an Elder Scrolls mod for the predecessor, Crusader Kings 2, has now Elder Kings 2
released a new version for CK3.
The mod takes place around 1,000 years before the events of Skyrim, in the second era of Tamriel – this is also the time when the MMO Elder Scrolls Online is set. There is no central authority, and days in Tamriel are plagued with tension, conflict, weak alliances, and national covetousness for land. Many people are looking for or waiting for a brave and capable leader – and that’s where you come in.
The initial situation is explained to you again in the trailer:

Just like the base game of Crusader Kings 3, you take control of a ruler and his kingdom, but the mod offers much more than just visually adjusted factions and a new map. Many elements from the RPGs make their way into the game, such as magic, vampirism, birth signs, and various new forms of government.
The magic in particular sounds exciting: Your ruler and his descendants can learn the five different schools of sorcery, each with its own skill tree and allowing for more powerful spells as your skill increases.
Where can you download the mod?
If you bought Crusader Kings 3 on Steam, you can download the mod directly Download via the Steam Workshop. Everyone else, such as PC Game Pass subscribers, can use the mod Download from Nexusmods and then install it manually. None of the paid DLCs are required to start the mod.
