Alan Wake 2 is unveiled again with new images celebrating the license’s anniversary. Development is going well, but there is bad news too.
Fans started to lose hope and finally Alan Wake 2 was made official in December 2021 during The Game Awards. To mark the 12th anniversary of the series, Remedy Entertainment has revealed new images and information about the game’s next release.
Alan Wake 2, some concept art while waiting for better
Captured by the Nibel tweets, these new shots of Alan Wake 2 are actually concept art. And therefore do not necessarily reflect passages in the game that we will have at the exit. There is still an idea of direction with scenes that can become gameplay sequences.
The images that can be seen in our gallery reveal a dark atmosphere with environments bathed in darkness. The protagonist develops in a dimly lit street and on a roof. The other two illustrations from Alan Wake 2 show a forest, one of the settings from the first game, and a very scary old lady knitting.
In the announcement we could read the following:
We all begin a story with hopes and expectations, and looking for an answer. Sometimes it would be better to live with that hope and never find the story. It’s not the story you want. This story will eat you alive. This story is a monster. And monsters have many faces.
Remedy Entertainment creative director Sam Lake added at the time “We know it will be a very scary experience“. And these concept arts don’t seem to betray that statement.
A little patience with fresh news
So when is the gameplay? Be patient because ultimately we won’t have anything new this summer. Indeed, the studio prefers to take its time to strike and make good initial impressions.
According to Sam Lake, the game will be the most beautiful Remedy has ever made. On the casting side, Ilkka Villi and Matthew Porretta will return for a second round.
Alan Wake 2 will be available in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
