A new developer video skull and bones 30 minutes of gameplay footage has been released and showcased.
While the game itself isn’t a narrative adventure, there are some “narratives” in it that tell stories in specific situations, called “investigations”.
One of the investigations focuses on a pair of siblings who are both vying for the throne of a small kingdom. In this case, the brother has left with the crown and is hiding it somewhere. Your mission is to find the crown, and once you’ve reached that location, you’ll do some looting before moving on to another location.
Another instance shown in the stream is docking next to the sunken ship. From here, you just tap the loot button and the item will appear in your inventory.
The purpose of the investigation was to tell some back stories, one of which involved a guy named Captain Freeman. Apparently, according to the game’s lore, Freeman hid his loot somewhere in the game world, and you’ll want to find the location of the big cache.
Speaking of lore, the developers tried to stay true to everything about the piracy. There’s language, some sea huts, mandatory drinking, dancing, playing musical instruments, and more.
There’s more info on the developer stream, so if you’re interested in Skeletons, you’ll want to take a look at it.
Due to recent delays, a new release date for the bootleg game has yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to be released early in Ubisoft’s 2023-2024 fiscal year.
