shows a game trailer The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria Tonight during Summer Game Fest 2023.
Narrated by esteemed actor John Rhys-Davis (Gimli!), the video gives us our first look at gameplay, including never-before-seen footage from the PC version of the game.
The video shows dwarves entering Moria’s cavern mines, harvesting resources vital to crafting and building, while reigniting long-term cold forges to forge ever more powerful weapons and armor.
The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is a survival game that was originally announced for PC, but it was revealed today that PlayStation and Xbox versions are in the works.
In development by Free Range Games, the game is set in the Misty Mountains of the fairly peaceful Fourth Age of Middle-earth. In this original adventure, a group of dwarves are setting out to reclaim the ancient subterranean complexes of Moria. Long abandoned and overwhelmed by all kinds of evil and hordes of orcs, the team is sent by the Shining Cave Master himself, Gimli of House Turin, to reclaim the dwarven homeland and reclaim the lost spoils.
Taking control of the dwarves, you’ll venture deep into the mines of Moria to retrieve treasure, and join forces to survive, craft, build, and explore all that Dwarrowdelf has to offer. But be careful: mysterious dangers await you, so stay alert at all times.
The game allows you to create custom dwarves before setting off alone or online with a companion. Through the use of procedurally generated environments, every adventure will be unique, meaning you can explore treasure and mine valuable ores time and time again. However, always be careful not to make too much noise – you might draw the attention of danger lurking in the depths.
The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria will be available this fall on PC via the Epic Game Store, and on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
