A new Witcher game has just been teased Via the official Wizards Twitter account today. The post shows an image of a snow-covered wizard necklace with the words “New Legend Begins” next to it, indicating the beginning of a brand new narrative in the beloved series.
The post also links to a news post on CD Projeckt Red’s website, which reveals that the new Witcher game will be created using Unreal Engine 5, rather than the in-house RED engine.
The use of Unreal Engine 5 also comes with a multi-year partnership between CD Projeckt Red and Epic Games, which apparently “includes not only licensing, but technical development of Unreal Engine 5, and potential future versions of Unreal Engine, if relevant.”
However, that doesn’t mean the game will be exclusive to the Epic Games store. Again via the official Tw itter account, there are currently no plans to offer the game exclusively to individual storefronts.
We don’t intend for the game to monopolize a storefront.

Beyond that, nothing is certain from this reveal. The news post emphasizes that there are no details about the game, nor a release date, just the engine it will use, so Witcher fans will have to keep an eye out for more information in the future.
As for the lore speculation, that’s the only thing we can really do at the moment, the wizard necklace featured in the trailer is clearly not Geralt’s own jewelry. Thanks to the ears sticking out from the top, you can see a lot, something that was missing from Geralt’s own wolf medallion
So it’s not clear who this belongs to. If we do wear tinfoil hats, you could interpret that as a sign that this new saga won’t feature Geralt as the protagonist, but it’s too early to tell.
