Amazon’s online role-playing game New World continues to enjoy a loyal community – and they are now enjoying a season for the first time. Today the developers gave the go-ahead for the new format.
Amazon Games today kicked off a season of MMORPG New World for the first time with “Camaraderie and Fire”; a new era is also beginning, so to speak, for online role-playing games.
The season model is now widely used in many different games and genres – and now it’s making its way into Amazon’s MMORPG as well. Season 1 is set to last approximately three months in New World, introducing new stories, challenges, seasonal activities, rewards and more.
What is Season 1 about? In “Camaraderie and Fire” you must assemble an elite mercenary group: the Silver Crows. With this you have to fight the ever-growing threats on the island of Aeternum. The first season tells how the Silver Crows are hired by their first employer, Skye, daughter of Spear, to uncover and thwart the machinations of a powerful warlock and the Varangian horde.
In terms of content, this first season introduces the new Expedition Empyrean Forge – a level 60+ Expedition set in the Great Rift, a snowy region haunted by the Corrupted. You pursue the commanders of Sir Loth, a knight of Artorius, to stop the flow of mysterious magic deep within a necropolis.
There’s also a new Firestorm Heart Gem and gear set storage mechanic. With the new seasonal model, you also get access to the Season Pass, which allows you to earn XP through seasonal activities, level up, and unlock rewards. All players have access to the free portion of the Season Pass – and players who have reached level 25 can purchase the premium portion for additional rewards.
