A little over a year ago, Amazon released its MMORPG New World, which got off to a great start. After the initial hype, however, things have been rather quiet about the title – until now.
The online role-playing game New World seemed to be falling asleep in the community after the initial rush for release in September 2021, but now the title is currently experiencing its second spring. At the weekend, the number of players literally skyrocketed and set a new record.
Last weekend, for example, New World counted more than 100,000 gamers at the same time exploring the world of Aeternum. That set a new record for New World – despite the initial hype last year when the title was on everyone’s lips.
Two circumstances are apparently responsible for this second spring: on the one hand, the recently released, large and new Brimstone Sands update with fresh game content, on the other hand, a discount campaign on Steam, which makes New World 50 percent cheaper to buy.
In the months following the release, the number of players on the game’s servers has actually been declining for some time – a trend that seems to have stopped for the moment. The only question that remains is: will Amazon be able to keep gamers engaged this time around, or at least for longer?
If you want to use the current boom to get in for the first time, you don’t have to worry about only meeting characters with the highest level. There are also fresh servers for newcomers that started with the Brimstone Sands update.
