Note to fans of the Dino Crisis saga: a new disappointment threatens to demoralize everyone. Here’s what we currently know about the license.
Since its release in the late 90s Dino crisis made an impression and seduced survival horror fans with its unique atmosphere of tension, dinosaurs and exploration. Created by Shinji Mikami, the father of resident EvilThanks to its oppressive atmosphere and innovative mechanics, the series quickly gained a solid fan base. However, despite this success, the franchise has not had a sequel since 2003 and fans continue to demand a return
Dino Crisis also disappoints in its absence
Dino Crisis fans may be disappointed to learn the latest revelation from Adi Shankar, creator of successful animated adaptations like Castlevania et Captain Laserhawk. In fact, Shankar recently shared that his original intention when he approached Capcom in 2017 was to bring back Dino Crisis as an animated series. But to his great surprise, the time had finally come Devil May Cry that Capcom offered him.
When he contacted Capcom, Shankar actually dreamed of exploring the universe of Dino Crisis, this cult game that combines survival and dinosaurs. His aim was to bring this exciting and suspenseful universe back to life, despite a third part that was considered less faithful to the spirit of the beginning. But instead of Dino Crisis, Capcom suggested Devil May Cry. A surprising choice for Shankar, but one he quickly accepted.
A frustration for the fans
The Devil May Cry fan base welcomed this announcement, but fans of Dino crisis I feel pushed aside again. The last game in the series dates back to 2003 and the anticipation for a new part has only grown over the years. However, rumors of Dino Crisis returning have died down over time, especially since series creator Shinji Mikami stated that the success of Monster Hunter limits the chances of Capcom’s dinosaur game returning.
In addition, Capcom has already tried a foray into the world of dinosaurs with Exoprimal, a multiplayer game, but it did not have the desired success. The lack of popularity quickly led to new content being dropped for the title, making the saga’s return even more unlikely…
