The Xbox Series X/S is to be followed by another Xbox console – and there is now another report on the possible release period.
As part of the confirmation of the new multiplatform strategy, Microsoft confirmed earlier this year that it would continue to stick with the Xbox division and release consoles in the future. Accordingly, there will also be a successor to the Xbox Series
A renowned Call of Duty data miner is now bringing the possible console release into play because a new game in Activision’s long-standing and successful shooter series is set to become a launch title for the XSX successor.
In this case, what is meant is the leaker Ghost of Hope, who now announced via social media: “I hear from trustworthy sources that the release of the next Xbox is planned for the end of 2025. It is very likely that CoD 2026 will be a day-one release for it.” Call of Duty 2026 is being developed by Infinity Ward.
Ghost of Hope is considered to be very well networked within publisher Activision, which is why the relevant information could come from there. A new Call of Duty as a launch title for a new Xbox would make sense, especially since Activision now belongs to Microsoft.
Microsoft confirmed in February that it would continue to develop Xbox hardware in the future. At that time, for example, Sarah Bond announced that they already had a “next-gen roadmap” and were fully focused on it. It promised nothing less than “the biggest technical leap you’ve ever seen in a hardware generation.”
Nevertheless, a release of the new Xbox at the end of 2026 would be somewhat of a surprise. As part of the Activision takeover, documents were disclosed that the new consoles from Microsoft and Sony would probably not be expected until 2028; However, this document was from 2022, so something in the plans could have changed.
A purely digital, white model of the Xbox Series X is scheduled to appear this year.
