Battlefield 2042 is still in an unusual position: Although the multiplayer shooter appeared in a technically poor condition, it is played by hundreds of thousands of players every day.
With the first updates, the developers have only addressed the grossest and most obvious problems so far, but have not yet been able to fix them completely and, to top it off, have brought new bugs such as the mouse bug into play. So it’s no wonder that the community is on the verge of losing patience:
Battlefield 2042 after Update 3
The community will soon be reaching its limit
Now BF2042 lead gameplay designer Florian Le Bihan from DICE has faced the game’s fans on social media and promised improvement.
This is what you can expect in the next BF2042 patch
Steps & audio improvements: Probably the most important point is that, according to the developer, the noise of the footsteps is improved. It is currently extremely difficult to determine the position of nearby enemies based on their occurrence. Opponents 30 meters away could just as easily be three meters away – somehow everything sounds the same.
Furthermore, Le Bihan promises that further audio enhancements will find their way into the game. Vehicles may then also be better located. Because every BF2042 player has been run over by a hovercraft or an M5C bolt without even hearing it coming.

Hit registration: It is now well known that shots fired are not always registered by the game. The developer promises that it will be worked on. In particular, the bug that occasionally no more shots are received after leaving a vehicle should be fixed soon. The fact that the hit registration is much more unreliable over long distances than in close combat should not remain the case either.

Other bug fixes:
- Ammunition for grenade launchers will soon also be available from ammunition boxes, and not only from Angel’s supply delivery.
- For some functions, such as changing the zoom level on certain sights, the keyboard layout will soon be able to be changed.
- The shots from the co-drivers are currently not arriving when the driver of a tank is turning his turret. That should be fixed.
- The mouse bug, which currently affects many players and which can only be fixed with a workaround, is fixed.
- A glitch in the Downed state that caused the camera to go crazy is also fixed.
