that mysterious Neil: Automata The church that ended up being a truly impressive mod is now available for everyone to download, so get ready for prayer knees.
Back in July, the internet was flooded with this bizarre situation that looked like a whole, previously undiscovered area of Nier: Automata was just discovered by some random guy on Reddit. But it turns out that this was actually a scam run by a group of people who made some impressive modding tools that many thought was not possible at the moment. Now you can download it yourself and experience the surreal story for yourself.
You can download this mod on the popular modding site Nexusmods, which has a very witty description, “Hello, I’m new to reddit and wondering how to open a church in Nier’Automata.” Note that there are some Recommendations for installing the mod, so be sure to check them out if you’re interested in trying it out.
As spotted by PCGamer, Twitch streamer Jaynoo played the mod on their Twitch channel, and much of it appears to be the same as seen in various clips shown before it was officially revealed as a mod.
This mod borrows bits and pieces from other games developed by Yoko Taro, such as the original Nier, and Dragon Guardian 3the PS3 follow-up to the PS2 original Drakkengard. The original game had a very unattainable ending that eventually gave birth to Nier’s world, and another ending that led to the events of Drakengard 3.
According to the mods page, other versions of the church will appear, including some kind of “lite” as well as the original files, probably to keep other modders messing around and trying to make mischief of their own.
