News tip Nier Re[in]Skin color, getting started: how to re-roll to get started, our guide
Published a few days ago, NieR Re[in]carnation is a free mobile game set in the expanded universe of the Yoko Taro franchise. We offer you a quick overview of the re-roll mechanics to help you get started with this title.
As a good free-to-play role-playing game that respects itself, NieR Re (in) carnation is a title based on what is known as the gacha mechanic. Understand that you can make a tie against some of the game’s premium currencies that will allow you to restore more or less powerful units or weapons. In this type of game, strength is essential to ensure the smoothest possible progression, and that strength can only be achieved by restoring the rarest of units and equipment.

In general, these games offer their players an initial “free” drawing during their tutorial which allows them to lay the foundation of their team for the rest of the events. It is therefore extremely important to collect the best possible units at this point. This is where the concept of re-roll comes into play.
What is re-roll?
The re-roll is a pretty simple principle to understand if you’re interested in F2P RPGs on mobile devices. In a nutshell, it’s basically just releasing a new game over and over until we have a pool of units that is right for us. This is quite a long process if we are unlucky and require patience as it will sometimes require repeating the game’s prologue several dozen times to get the desired result.
So we recommend that you only try iterate if you want to invest in your game and play it again in the months and years after its release.
First stage
After installing the game, follow the first sequence of the game (the one in black and white) until you reach mom. Then leave that first area with him to get into a colored area. There you can access the in-game messages and collect your first gems.
Then enter the mom icon to open the menu (despite her protests) and perform your first incantation on the NieR: Automata banner. Your goal then is to get at least a 4-star character (purple crystal) below A2 and 2B. If not, stop everything. If you’re greedy, you can try to get two, even three or four 4-star characters on this first summon, but be aware that the odds are extremely slim.
- If you’re playing on iOS, uninstall the game, then reinstall it and start playing again. Repeat the process until you are happy with your first draw.
If you’re playing on Android, clear the app data and start playback again. Repeat the process until you are happy with your first draw.
Note that you can speed up the maneuver considerably by going through the cutscenes thanks to the “Skip” button that appears in the top right of the screen when you slide your finger there, just like with the auto-move feature.
When you have an expression that you are happy with, move on to the next step.
Second step
After you’ve made your first draw and are happy with it, it’s time to move on to the second repetition step, which can take a little longer. For the rest of the events, complete all the missions from the first chapter that will allow you to exit the first area. Again, if you don’t want to waste time, you can use the automatic movement and the skip button so as not to clutter the cutscenes.
If you have to fight to learn the basics of the combat system, Remember to use your heroes’ skills to achieve the goals associated with them. This will allow you to loot some additional gems.
When you get to the second area of the game, mom will explain how to equip the units and you will not only get your login rewards but also access to the challenges. At that moment, tap Mama 100 times to unlock a secret challenge that will earn you 3000 gems, which is enough to make 10 summons. Then collect all the gems you can by validating your challenges and collecting the rewards on the news that should normally allow you to reach just over 6,000 gems in total.
All you have to do is perform 2 summons on the NieR: Automata banner and see the result. Try targeting A2 and 2B again to maximize your chances. When you are satisfied with the result, move on with your adventure. If not, repeat the process from step one.
The conjuring system
As in most games that adopt the principle of gacha, NieR Re (in) carnation has a summoning system that allows you to get more or less powerful units. This is primarily about conjuring weapons that equip the characters obtained throughout the story. BUT, and that’s a big “but,” certain weapons are tied to a certain character that you get at the same time as they are summoned. These units are obviously some of the best in the game, for the rarest of all, and you must try to target them. Finally, you should know that there are more weapons without characters than the other way around, which makes finding the best characters quite complex.
Below is a table with the percentage chance of receiving each unit type:
Rarity | Chances of getting |
---|---|
4-star weapon with character | 2% |
4-star weapon with no character | 3% |
3-star weapon with character | 5% |
3-star weapon with no character | 10% |
2-star weapon with no character | 80% |
There are summons in this game with multiple rarity levels. it ranges from 2 to 4 stars, and each rarity level is represented by a colored crystal that is revealed during the invocation:
- Two stars: Silver crystal
- Three stars : golden crystal
- Four stars : purple crystal
If you spend 3000 gems you will get a 10 summoning draw and you will have a clue of the outcome you will get from the start. The door you stand in front of reflects the invocations behind it:
- Wooden door : no infrequent summons guaranteed
- Golden door: a guaranteed 3-star evocation
- Mama Gate: a guaranteed 4-star evocation
Note, however, that it is possible to have a 4-Star Summon behind any type of door. It is also possible that a crystal will evolve to higher rarity during the reveal of the summon. So always wait to see the result of your summoning before re-rolling.
